Ceramic Implants, anyone have any experience with these?
Wed, 05/26/2010 - 17:33 — HerndonDDS
A patient recently chose an alternative implant at another office. It turns out this is a Zirconia material, one called CeraRoot from Spain. Are these being used much in Europe or around the world? Anyone have any experience with these implants?
This patient chose this for esthetic purposes having been told that "if tissue ever recedes then it will look better" (according to the patients comment).
Thank you in advance.
Michael

Zirconium Implant options- Z Systems FDA approved in USA
I have utilized Z-Systems as Zirconium option for those patients requesting a non-metallic option to tooth replacement. It is a 1 piece implant so placement must be accurate and conventional preparation and impression taking is required for restoration. It does not offer a small diameter option so small or lateral incisors would be difficult. It has worked well but can not be loaded immediately so the abutment transmucosal must be protected from transitional loading for the 1st 3-4 months.
