The Piezo is SOOOOO SLOW for block graft harvest, I have started using a combination. I cut the outline with a saggital saw almost thru cortical bone, then go back with the Piezo to finish. Cuts the time required for the Piezo significantly. If I have lots of room above the nerve I just use the saggital saw.
I agree on the Piezo being safer around the nerve, those close-by cases are what it's good for.
I do a combo of Saggital Saw and Piezo

Nicholas Shumak I concur....the piezo can be slow
I like a recip saw myself. Works much faster then a piezo
Block Graft Harvest: I use a piezo
I used to use a sagital and recip saw. Now I am only using a piezo. Its slowing but less chance of damaging a nerve or vessel.
