I am looking to buy a cone-beam system. Any input from providers that currently own cone-beam systems would be appreciated. What system are you using and are you happy with your investment? Thanks in advance.
I send my cone beams to a local guy who has a prexion. The images as great. I dont know if I would buy one when I can send the patient down the street and get one.
I would look and see if someone in your area has one that you can send your patients to, big savings that way.
I have a doc in my area that has a cone beam, I started sending some patients. He is using a prexion unit, the images are fantastic and the reader is easy to plan the case.
I recently purchased the Kodak unit and I love it. It has changed the way I practice. I have been able to treatment plan implants to a level I couldnt before. It has also open my eyes to a number a potential complications I would of had if I didnt take a CT. Is it expensive? Without a doubt. Does it pay dividends? Yes without question.
I myself am still using traditional panos and pa's for implant therapy. However, most of my colleagues are starting to use cone beam. If you dont have the funds to buy one there are many places that you can send you patient locally to have a cone beam done.
Cone Beam===limited field of view
My advice is by a limited field of view. You get the advance images you need without the liability concerns.
Suni and Ewoo have machines that are pretty nice.

CONE BEAM: I refer when I need one
I refer my patients to an orthodontist that has an i-CAT, when I need it. Otherwise, I palpate, take soundings, take pa's and pano,s. This works.

ICAT cone beam
I own the icat and I wouldnt go back. Its a pricey investment but it well worth it in the long run. I wouldnt do an implant without it.
There are many cone beams on the market since I bought mine. Shop around, in this economy you can probably get a great deal.
