It might be of interest to this forum that many malpractice insurers do not automatically extend professional liability coverage for placement of implants. Those insurers that do not automatically extend coverage for this procedure are typically willing to do so for an additional annual premium ranging from $200 - $1,600 annually.

Because insurance company filings differ from state to state and because my personal insurance practice is focused exclusively in the Mid-Atlantic region, I am not comfortable providing the names of companies that don't automatically extend coverage for implants. Nevertheless, it is advisable to contact your insurance professional to verify that you are covered. If you are interested in learning more about at least one company that does not charge doctors who place implants a higher premium, you can do so by clicking - http://professional.protectorplan.com or, if you practice in MD, DC, VA, or DE, by emailing me at eagerner@rktongue.com
