I am interested in purchasing a unit. I have a couple of colleagues that swear by them. I have read some articles that it reduces the risks of perforations. I am looking for views and opinions on whether its worth the investment.
I have to say piezo has completely changed my practice. I use to do traditional rotary and lift, sinus I started using piezo my perforation rate is almost zero.
Studies by Wallace and others have found Piezo reduces the perforation rate in open sinus lifts to 4-7% versus 30% in conventional techniques. Also allows much easier manipulation of sinus septae and intraossous arterioles. If you do a fair amount of open sinus lifts in your practice definitely get one! I have the Mectron Piezosurgery unit. I have heard good things about the Acteon unit as well.
I am strictly using the piezo for open sinus lifts. I find it reduces my complications associated with sinus lifts. I find I perf less. I would not go back to the round per and hand piece now that we have piezo.

Piezo: I use the OSADA Unit
I use an ENAP by Osada and it works well and cost arount $2,500.00 which is a good price.
