I went this year to a 2 day course on Alloderm using the Dr Pat Allen Papilla Tunnel Technique I did a proceduce on a patient the other day from teeth #7 to #3. The patient was pre-medicated with Zithromax (250mg) the day before surgery and completed there after. Ibuprofen 800mg q6-8h for pain. Medrol dose pack Peridex bid 2-3 weeks as laid out in Pats course. I did the alternate papilla tunnel technique. Lifting the papilla was difficult and my final results where less than satisfactory. Anyone care to share their thoughts on the Alternate Papilla Tunnel Technique?

I frequently place implants in sites with inadequate KG/attached tissue.

How do you handle this as a clincian? Do you augment prior to stage I, at stage I or at stage II.

What technique do you utilize? Alloderm, Free Gingival Graft (FGG) or a Connective Tissue Graft (CTG)?

Root Coverage: Whats best allogafts or connective tissue???

I am looking into the new amnion membrane for root coverage. Anyone use it and does it work? Whats your experience and whats the best technique to get best results with it?

What techniques are you using for root coverage? Do you use autogenous tissue or alloderm?

I have used Arestin with mixed results. I think its better for isolated 5-6mm pockets then full mouth. I looking for some opinions on how you advocate the use of local antibiotics?

I refered a case to my periodontist who does great work. It was fro a vertical defect #18 distal. I got a report that he used EMD and DFDBA. The area looks very lucent still. Its been 3 months and I have not probed. I asked my periodontist and he told me it may take up to a year to see the fill.

Is he correct, should I be concerned?

Whats your technique for pluping up a ridge for pontic site development?

I talked to one of my local periodontists that I refer to and he says he likes connective tissue grafts for root coverage and doesn't do many free ginigival grafts unless he is looking to augment the zone of attached tissue. I read PD Miller article recently and he got great results for root coverage using FGG. I am wondering why FGG fell out of favor?

Looking for opinions on the VIP CT graft. Does it give you an advantage by leaving the CT graft connected to the blood supply? In my opinion you can build up a ridge just as effective using a langer, allen, or orth technique. It those techniques the CT graft is removed and placed within the defect. You can also build it up nicely with dermis. Looking for opinions.
